"The Linden Hall Polka", respectfully inscribed to the Young Ladies of Linden Hall (formerly Young Ladies Institute) by Charles Grobe and published by Lee & Walker of Philadelphia, ca. 1855. The front cover, printed in stone lithography, depicts the "rear view" of this famous school for girls founded in 1746 in Lititz, PA. Still in operation, it is the oldest girls's boarding/day school in the US, and was founded on Moravian Church Ideals. A total of 6pp, the music sheet contains 3 pp of actual musical notations, the rear page being publisher's ads. Some soiling and separation at fold, otherwise this scarce example of local/regional ephemera related to the school's earlier years, is in good condition. OCLC locates only 2 other examples, one at Wm Clements Library at the University of Michigan and the other at Brigham Young University. $60.00
